Event Description
I’ll risk putting on a walk on the Bank Holiday weekend, as I don’t think we’ll see many people on most of this route.
The walk is 14km (just under 9 miles) with 730m of ascent.
Meet 10am at the carpark (SH 74379 69302) near Pen y Gaer above Tal y Bont in the Conwy Valley. Take the Llanbedr y Cennin road from Tal y Bont (turn just before Y Bedol pub if coming from the north). Follow the winding narrow road up hill ignoring turnings until you reach one with signs to Bwlch y Ddeufaen and Bwlch y Gaer. Take the left hand road signed to Bwlch y Gaer. Follow that to the end where there is a small carpark on right. The carpark is not big but I don’t think many people use it and we can probably fit 6 cars in two parking places if we park immediately behind each other.
From there we will go up Penygadair and follow the ridge to Pen y Castell then up to Drum. Up Foel Fras then dropping down the eastern side of the mountain to reach Dulyn. Past the bothy and down Pant y Griafolen to reach a track to take us back to the beginning.
