Meet at Waunfawr, Snowdonia Parc pub car park on A4085 (SH 527588) 9.30 for 9.45 start. 14 Km, estimated time 6-6.5 hr.
Initially follow the slate trail, branching off to go over the tump, Moel Smytho and then on to Moel Tryfan. This is an excellent viewpoint and its geology important in the 19th centuary debate between glaciation versus the biblical flood. Darwin himself stood on this summit. We then descend to take the path over Mynydd Mawr and on to Rhyd Ddu.
We will need at least 2 cars, depending on numbers. One at the start – Waunfawr station/pub car park, one taken to Rhyd Ddu.
It could also provide a short walk for some, providing they are happy to navigate their own way back to their cars in Waunfawr.
