Today we are walking from Capel Curig to Bangor. Officially the Slate trail finishes at Bethesda, but we will continue down the Ogwen valley to Bangor – 2 reasons for this; to make a full day’s walk and also to end up at our starting point of a few months ago.
We will meet at Bangor and then take cars to our starting point of Capel Curig (car park behind Joe Brown’s).
Meet 9.20 for a 9.30 departure at Porth Penrhyn in Bangor.
To get to Porth Penrhyn, come off A55 at junction 11, take A5 towards Bangor, enter the 30mph area, and Porth Penrhyn is a turning on the right. It is poorly signed, but there is a large sign for a new housing development, (Plas Y Coed). After the turning, continue over the stone bridge and park soon after that.
Post code is LL57 4HN, grid reference is SH593724. (if you bear left down to the quay you go through a barrier which is locked in the evening).
The walk from Capel is via Ogwen, Bethesda to Port Penrhyn.
Capel to Bethesda is 18Km and say another 8Km from Bethesda to Porth Penrhyn which makes 26 Km.
