Aber is likely to be very busy but hopefully this avoids the crowds for most of the route.
Meet at 9am on Saturday 5th June on the old road immediately to the north of the A55 at Abergwyngregyn (SH 65398 72810). Park on the roadside, there should be plenty of room. Coming along A55 from east turn off for Aber and turn right and go under the A55. Turn right and park on first road after going under A55. Coming along A55 from west take turning for Aber, turn right as if going to Aber village but turn left and park just before going under A55.
The walk goes up on to the west side of the Aber valley and cuts across Cae’r Mynydd to join an ancient sheep route into the hills. It runs along the top of Rhaeardr Bach and into Cwm yr Afon Goch. We continue up the Cwm and then head for the summit of Foel Fras. Descent is either by Cwm Anafon or the Foel Ganol ridge, depending on weather and energy, along the woodland tracks down to Bont Newydd and then down the road.
This is a fairly long walk and the route is about 12 miles.
